What are dermal fillers?
Dermal fillers are smooth injectable gels made from naturally occurring hyaluronic acid. Dermal fillers add volume to weakened facial features and can stimulate collagen growth. Each dermal filler is unique in its own way but similar in two. First, they plump skin and gently lift it to restore collagen loss due to the normal aging process. Secondly, dermal fillers motivate the body to create its own natural collagen and restore your face to a more natural, youthful appearance.
How is the procedure performed?
Prior to dermal filler injections, our highly trained injector will thoroughly cleanse your skin followed by the application of an anesthetic agent to minimize discomfort during the procedure. This anesthetic will remain for 15-20 minutes until desired level of numbness is achieved. With a very tiny needle, small amounts of dermal fillers are injected into the identified areas of volume loss via several techniques including serial injections, fanning, and/or threading. Treatments typically take 20-30 minutes to complete. The amount of filler needed varies depending on the amount of volume loss and desired outcome.
What type of filler is best for me?
Each hyaluronic acid filler varies in hyaluronic acid concentration, length of effectiveness, and consistency amongst other differences a consultation is required with our highly trained injector to determine the best type of filler for you.
How long does the results last?
Length of treatment effectiveness is dependent on each individual filler. However, the treatment duration has a general range of anywhere from one to two years on average.
What is recovery like?
Recovery time varies for each patient and for each type of filler injected. You can resume most activities right away, but it is generally recommended that you avoid intense physical activity for the first 24-48 hours to minimize swelling and bruising. Temporary swelling, bruising, redness, and bruising are all possible following treatment. Be sure to discuss your specific recovery plan with your highly trained injector prior to scheduling your injections.
